5 Podcasts for Stress Management

This is going to sound crazy, but hear me out, there is not a better time to be stressed out than in 2019.  AGAIN, there is not a better time to be stressed out than NOW.  This is because of the substantial increase of the awareness of mental health and the increased availability of a variety of treatments to manage it.  Granted, everyone is not in a position to see the best psychiatrist or even an average one.  However, there are free ways to assist in managing stress. A great way to learn about how to manage stress management are podcasts. I personally listen to podcasts every blue moon but when I do listen, it’s typically self-help type podcasts such as the ones below. Well, without further ado:

Here are 5 podcasts for stress management:

Therapy for Black Girls

Therapy for black girls is hosted by Dr. Joy Harden Bradford, a licensed psychologist in Atlanta, GA.  Therapy for Black Girls, a podcast with a 5/5 star rating on the app store, offers tips to improve your mental health and takes the time to answer questions from listeners. Listeners can expect topics that range anywhere from ‘Sex With The Ex’ to ‘Mental Health for Activists’.

Fav Baby Momma Podcast

As a full-time mom, this one happens to be close to my heart. Fav Baby Momma Podcast is a safe space full of stories and lessons for every boss baby mama!  Despite the progressive and numerous options for therapy, there’s just nothing quite talking amongst your closest friends–this is the kind of therapy Fav Baby Momma provides. Also, if you listen closely to the Happy Mother’s Day episode from 2018, you might hear a familiar guest’s voice–mine.

UnF*ck Your Brain: A Feminist Blueprint to Getting The Life You Want                                  If you are one of those people that do a lot but it still doesn’t feel like it’s even HALF way enough, this is the podcast for you.  This one is hosted by the very entertaining Master Certified Coach Kara Loewentheil, J.D.  Her episodes include toxic work environments, loving yourself, and how to stop settling.

Sexology                                                                                                                                        Perhaps your stress is a little outside of the box and not work or anxiety related.  Perhaps it’s stress about intimacy or sex?  Sexology is the podcast for you and even your partner.  The sexology podcast is hosted by Dr. Nazanin Moali.  Listeners will not hear the typical “How to get the best orgasm” type of sexual rhetoric.  You will hear topics that explore the psychology of sex including episodes about long distance relationships and sexual intimacy after betrayal.

Black Girl in Om                                                                                                                                 This podcast is extremely popular and for good reason, it’s the shit!  Black Girl in Om is hosted by Lauren Ash and Deun Ivory.  The dynamic duo provides strategies of self-love and the importance of wellness in everyday living.  It’s an uplifting show that discusses the challenges specifically for women of color living in this crazy world without going crazy.
