DIY: 1st Day of School Sign

I was browsing on Pinterest, per usual, and came across quite a few of these awesome signs that parents were using for their kid’s first day of school.  Most of them were pre-made and available for purchase.  However, with only a few days left before the school year started, I couldn’t risk the shipping timeframe and I wasn’t willing to spend double the amount of the sign,  just for express shipping.  So of course the next thought was, “Joi, you can just make it yourself.”  I needed to go to the arts and crafts store anyways, so to Michaels I went.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Alphabet Stickers

Decorative Stickers

Chalkboard

Chalk

I decided on the smaller size chalkboard, therefore I decided to divide it into 3 parts: Today is My First Day Of, When I grow up, and My current age.  If you choose to get a larger board, you can certainly add more sections.

The easiest way to ensure that the words are straight is to grab a straight edge tool, or use the back of the sticker sheet.

After adding the letters, I used the decorative stickers to add additional flare.

All together, this took about 10 minutes to complete
