Best Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies!
Jump to recipe
Out of all of the meals and desserts that I’ve made, perfecting a chocolate chip cookie has been the hardest ha! Who would’ve thought? Seems simple enough, right? Not!
After four tries with four different kinds of recipes, this one finally worked. I’m so happy because now I can whip these up anytime that I get a craving or have some friends over. I made so many that I gave a few to my neighbor. When Amazon messes up my packages, she always leaves them at the door for me with a nice note 🙂
Without further ado, here’s my best homemade chocolate chip cookie recipe!

Ingredients
- 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (not Kosher salt)
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar (might add a little more next batch)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter ( not softened but room temp, hard to explain but just make sure it's not completely melted)
- 6 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chip cookies
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 and grab two mixing bowls
- In one bowl mix flour, baking soda and salt
- In the other bowl, beat together the butter, both sugars and mix well
- In this same bowl, add egg and vanilla, mix well
- Slowly add the flour mix from the other bowl into this bowl
- Mix but don't try to make it too smooth, lumpy is perfection here
- Add chocolate chips
- Chill dough for 30-40 min
- Use an ice cream scooper or large serving spoon to lump dough onto greased pan (I used aluminum foil on the pan and then oiled it)
- Bake the cookies until the edges are lightly browned
- About 9-11 min.
- Let cookies cool down for a bit before serving
